Math and Physics Club 8/18 @ the Seattle Art Museum

The only thing better than going to see a great band on a sunny day after work, is going to see a great band on a sunny day after work for free! Lack of money can be a problem for music fans under 21, be the cause a lack of a job or scrounging together cash for tuition or that first apartment. Luckily, there are opportunities all over town to catch free shows with some fabulous bands, a list including in-stores at Easy Street or Sonic Boom, First Fridays at The Aurafice, shows at The Flying Lion Cafe, and The Seattle Art Museum’s after hours performances. I’ve seen bands from The Presidents of the United States of America to Smoosh, and now Math...

The Blood Brothers 8/12 @ The Showbox

Posted on August 13th, 2005 by Justine-Marie in Reviews

What an up and down evening at the Showbox last night! Things started out okay, went downhill, uphill, back and forth a few times, and finally closed off with an amazing performance by local favorites, The Blood Brothers. There were times I was worried about having a ruined evening out, but by the time the Blood Brothers had finished their second song, my memory was set in favor of the show.

Things started out okay, with Athletic Automaton, a two-man band, bringing quirk and style to the stage. They arrived in brown and orange track uniforms (they quickly stripped to shorts), with orange sweatbands and orange lights for accent. Athletic Automaton seemed to...

Posted on August 10th, 2005 by Justine-Marie in Announcements

Hey All,

Our sweet summer is coming to an end! But before we polish things off, we are going to Bumbershoot!. Make sure you get your tickets before the end of August, though, prices get much higher weekend of. Check back for our picks of what to see at Bumbershoot this year, and of course afterwords, we’ll let everyone in on the acts they missed with our gigantic review!

Also, our Button Gallery is still up and growing, with our first local reader Michelle sending in her pics, and a fabulous California friend as well. It makes us happy to see people around town wearing our buttons… but it would be even more radtastic to have your picture on our page! We’re going to start calling names, like you guys in The Batteries (who have a show this Saturday night 8/20, Redmond Firehouse, 8PM $6). We’ve seen you wearing our...

Interview 7/24 with Daniel of Idiot Pilot

Posted on August 1st, 2005 by Alisa in Interviews

It never ceases to amaze me how wonderfully gracious our local bands are. I was extremely excited that I had the opportunity to interview Idiot Pilot, but unfortunately Michael was unable to be there. Still, I didn’t email them before the show, but being the nice guys they are, Daniel stuck around and made some time for a brief interview:

Daniel: I feel really hyper

Alisa: Yea, you guys played a really good show.

Daniel: Thank you

Alisa: So how is the tour going?

Daniel: Very, very well, Alisa. I think that we’re gonna do a really big video thing, we’ve been taking a lot of video so we’re gonna edit it together into a series of different parts and post it on our website.

Alisa: I saw your one video you posted about a month ago, you guys playing D&D in the van.

Daniel: Yeah, yeah...
